Rail4Regions: Putting freight on rail

The reopening of branch lines and industrial sidings as well as additions to the infrastructure of multimodal freight terminals can increase the capacities for rail freight transport in Central Europe much faster than building new rail tracks. How to exploit these potentials is subject to transnational exchange and learning of the Rail4Regions project. Here, twelve partners from all member states of Interreg Central Europe collaborate to elaborate and test new solutions. The project concept and application had been developed by core-consult on behalf of the project’s lead partner, the Thuringian Ministry for Infrastructure and Agriculture. The project was submitted in the Interreg Central Europe program’s first call and was approved for funding. The project entered its implementation phase in February 2023. core-consult is responsible for the External project and financial management and supports the project’s dissemination.
