At the European Parliament: Europe’s Green Belt as a Model for Restoration and Cooperation
At the European Parliament, representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and partners from six countries discussed the European Green Belt as a model for biodiversity restoration and European cooperation at a conference organised by the partners of the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE project ReCo. Hosted by MEP Danuše Nerudová, the conference demonstrated how former dividing lines can be transformed into ecological corridors and how EU policies such as the Nature Restoration Law and the Biodiversity Strategy 2030 can be implemented in practice. With more than 3,200 protected areas across 24 countries, the European Green Belt stands as both Europe’s ecological backbone and a symbol of cross-border cooperation and shared responsibility.
