Last Saturday, 13 June 2026, the City of Löbau welcomed representatives of fire brigades from Germany and Poland to the sixth expert workshop held within the framework of the Interreg project “Eco-Energie in Aktion”. The workshop was led by Mr Oliver Trost – the Head of International Cooperation of the Kreisfeuerwehrverband Görlitz e.V. and the members of the FIREUNITY initiative. FIREUNITY promotes trilateral cooperation among fire and rescue services in the border region of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. Participants gained insights into the initiative’s objectives and activities and exchanged experiences on best practices that can help strengthen cooperation and operational readiness of fire brigades on both sides of the border. Following the workshop, the guests took part in the Open Day of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Löbau. The main focus of the event was the presentation of a demonstration project for an energy-self-sufficient fire station, which is being implemented as part of the project. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the photovoltaic system installed on the fire station building and its contribution to ensuring a sustainable and resilient energy supply for fire service facilities.
