From Ideas to Action: Discussion of Policy Changes in Durrës

On 14–15 October 2026, Green LUPO partners met in Durrës, Albania, to explore potential policy changes supporting the transition towards No Net Land Take (NNLT).

The main focus was on identifying concrete improvements to regional policies and programmes. Working in two thematic groups, partners discussed spatial planning, brownfield redevelopment, governance, funding priorities and implementation mechanisms.

The discussions focused not only on possible solutions but also on existing barriers, responsible actors and practical implementation challenges. Partners assessed the proposed changes in terms of their contribution to NNLT, feasibility and transferability, laying the groundwork for a joint catalogue of potential policy changes.

A study visit to Durrës EcoPark provided practical insights into brownfield regeneration and opportunities to transfer successful approaches to other European regions.
